The artist behind many of the city’s best known and best-loved major public art works will personally escort a small group of art lovers on a tour of his work in and around the Detroit on Saturday, June 25th.
Art lovers will board our beautiful trolley on the campus of the College for Creative Studies which is also the first stop on our tour. We will visit the Charles H Wright Museum to see the 37 foot terrazzo tile floor Massey created, see the mural installation at the Atheneum Hotel, stroll through the Harmonie Park piece commemorating the cultural and political history of the city, and visit monumental works at Campus Martius, the Federal Reserve Bank and several other sites. The tour will take us to more than 10 sites in all.
Massey will talk with tour goers about his process, materials, history and inspiration. Participants will have the chance to get to know the artist over lunch at the historic Caucus Club in Downtown’s Penobscot Building.
Tour goers must register in advance and tickets are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Registration closes June 18th.
Everyone will receive a map and program signed by Massey and created exclusively for this tour. Participants will also have a chance to purchase a limited edition Hubert Massey print.

Hubert Massey Mexico City Art Tour in Spring 2012
Tour participants will also be among the first who can register to join a traveling art tour with Massey next spring.
When asked what place he would most like to share with art lovers, Massey chose Mexico City. As one of very few artists trained in the tradition of Diego Rivera, Massey is an excellent guide to the art of the city. Our tour is packed with art tours and offers and chance to meet the city’s most prominent working artists.
